Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516) Very little is known of Bosch other than he was born in Holland and only 25 paintings are known to be by his hand. However, despite having practically no record of his actual life, his work has been influential for hundreds of years.
His most famous work by far is The Garden of Earthly Delights, a triptych altarpiece, now housed in the Prado Museum in Spain.
Intended to be read from left to right, the boards depict inner panels of the altarpiece, as they would have originally been displayed.
